America is home to some of the world’s best zoos. Zoos across the country give you a chance to step into the “wild,” and see animals from all across the globe. We’ve explored these various environments and have created a list of the best zoos in America to satisfy you and your families’ inner-explorers.
San Diego Zoo
The San Diego Zoo is one of California’s most visited attractions and rightfully so. There are more than 4,000 animals across the 100-acre park. Visitors can gander at animals such as giant pandas, polar bears, elephants and giraffes. The grounds of the zoo are also spectacular as the zoo has been named a botanical garden, with more than 1 million plants. Take a guided tour or jump on the hop-on, hop-off bus that circles the zoo with 5 different stops.
Philadelphia is considered one of the oldest and most historic cities in the country. The zoo is no exception. Opened in 1874, The Philadelphia Zoo is the country’s oldest zoo. The zoo now sprawls across 42 acres and features more than 1,300 animlas. The zoo has amazing unique experiences for visitors to enoy. For example, rise 400 feet above the zoo in the Channell 6 Zooballoon, or keep an eye on “Big Cat Crossing.” “Big Cat Crossing” is a 330-foot mesh bridge that allows large felines – like tigers and pumas – to walk above visitors of the park.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Walt Disney World’s largest theme park, Animal Kingdom, features over 1,700 animals. The park which spans close to 500 acres is divided into 7 areas such as Africa, Asia, and DinoLand USA. Not only can you jump on a “wild safari,” and see animals like zebras and elephants, but there are also many other attractions to enjoy such as Expedition Everest roller coaster and the Kali River Rapids raft ride. Also don’t miss the daily performance by some of your favorite Disney Characters!
These are only a few of the amazing zoos across the country. Although only these 3 are featured, every zoo has its own memorable and exciting experience. So get out there and do some exploring!
