Airports That Offer Free City Tours During Your Long Layover

Long layovers are such a hassle. Layovers are usually spent eating sub-par, overpriced airport food, searching different terminals for an open plug, and using spotty wi-fi. However, the horrible fate of long layovers is defeated in these airports. These airports have made the long layover appealing with free city tours.

Taiwan Taoyuan Int’l Airport

The Taipei international airport offers city tours if you have at least an 8-hour layover. Travelers, with a long layover, can choose from 2 different options. Travelers can enjoy a tour of Sanchia & Zushih Temple and Yingge, in one trip. The other option is a tour of Taipei 101 Mall, Longshan Temple, Presidential Office Building, Chiang Kay Shek Memorial Hall, and Martyrs’ Shrine. Those interested can register at the Tourist Service Centre located in the arrival lobby at Taoyuan International Airport. The tours are offered at 8:15 a.m. and 1:45 a.m. However, registration is limited to 18 people on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Singapore’s Changi Airport

Singapore’s Changi Airport is arguably the best airport to have a layover. The airport features a butterfly garden, video game room, free massage chairs, free movies, and much more. However, if that’s not enough, the airport also offers two free tours to those who have a 6 hour or more layover: a Heritage Tour and a City Sights Tour. The Heritage tour showcases the city’s current and past rich history with visits to Chinatown, Little India and Kampong Glam. The City Sites tour showcases modern Singapore with visits to Merlion Park, Gardens by the Bay, and other attractions.  There are two city sights tours, and two heritage tours offered a day. Registration is located in Transfer Lounge F or Transfer Lounge A (before immigration), and tickets are first-come, first-serve.
