The WWE is a male-dominated sport. However, some women have overcome the odds and become some of the biggest influences in the industry. Not only are these women beautiful, but they are also are strong, powerful and smart. Meet the Superstars (formerly Divas) of the WWE.

Torrie Wilson In The Ring

As a former fitness model, Torrie Wilson was the perfect woman for the WWE. She worked as a Diva for seven years with various storylines. She was often seen as a villain as she took down various others competitors such as Ashley Massaro. She never won a Women’s Championship. However, she performed in one of the most downloaded matches ever – a contest against Sable from Judgement Day in 2002.

Since 2009 Torrie Wilson has made various appearances in the WWE. She most recently appeared on the 25th Anniversary of Monday Night Raw, in 2018, as part of a segment honoring female WWE legends. She also participated in the first women’s Royal Rumble Match. Today, she owns and operates a lifestyle and fitness website.

Bull Nakano In The Ring

Bull Nakano certainly left her mark on the WWE. She rose to fame in her native country of Japan and debuted in the WWE in 1994. She had her sights set on winning the Women’s Championship. She aligned with Luna Vachon and took down Alundra Blayze. Her dream became a reality that same year. However, she disappeared from the ring only a few short months after.

Bull Nakano, whose real name is Keiko Nakano, retired from professional wrestling in 1997. After wrestling, she took on a different sport – golf. She didn’t find immediate success in golf. However, after years of perseverance, she eventually made it to the LPGA.

Kelly Kelly In The Ring

The WWE signed Kelly Kelly in 2006. Her exhibitionist ways led her to become an immediate hit. She regularly performed stripteases on a segment called “Kelly’s Expose.” She moved to the Raw brand in July 2008 and unsuccessfully challenged for multiple championships on several different occasions. She finally won the WWE Divas Championship in April 2011.

Kelly Kelly, born Barbara Jean Blank, retired from wrestling in 2012. However, she recently returned for the first ever Women’s Royal Rumble. Aside from wrestling, she also is still a very active model and is a main cast member of the reality series “WAGS LA.” In 2017, she took her acting experience from the ring onto the TV and appeared in a scene in the soap opera “Days of Our Lives.”

Jacqueline played the perfect villain to counteract the beloved Sable in the late 90s. She also broke down barriers in 2004 when she defeated Chavo Guerrero and captured the Cruiserweight Championship. She was only the third woman to hold this title. After her 2004 win, she mainly worked as a manager. In 2016, Jaqueline was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Jacqueline Moore was the first African-American woman to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. After she left the WWE, Jacqueline took acting classes and appeared in a few TV movies such as “Against All Odds.” Like many other infamous female wrestlers, she returned for the inaugural Women’s Royal Rumble, but she was eliminated by Nia Jax.

In 2006, Melina Roucka, better known as Rosa Mendes, competed in the WWE Diva search. She made it to the top eight but was eliminated. Despite her elimination, she was given a contract and began appearing under the name Roucka. After spending some time in the OVW as well as the FCW, she was signed to the Raw brand in 2008. She has been associated with several of the greats such as Beth Phoenix and the tag team champions Primo & Epico.

Melina Roucka announced her official retirement from wrestling in February 2017. She is married to clothing designer and musician, Bobby Schubenski. They welcomed their first child in February 2016. Today, she runs a fitness and lifestyle website called “Totally Fit Mama.” The website offers meal plans and workouts to anyone looking to improve their health.

Beth Phoenix In The Ring

When Beth Phoenix made her debut on Raw in 2006, she suffered a broken jaw. From that point on, everyone knew Beth was a force to be reckoned with. The Glamazon has won three women’s championships and was the second woman in WWE history to compete in the Royal Rumble. She even eliminated the competitor, The Great Kahli. Beth retired from the ring in 2012. In 2017, she became the youngest person ever to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Beth Pheonix, born Elizabeth Kociański, participated in the first-ever women’s Royal Rumble on January 28, 2018. She is the only wrestler to compete in both the women’s and the men’s Royal Rumble. Only a few weeks before the Royal Rumble, she acted as a color commentator during the WWE Mixed Match Challenge. In 2016, she married Andrew Copeland, better known as the wrestler Edge.

Paige was signed to the WWE in 2011. She spent time in several of their developmental territories until she made her debut on the main roster in 2014. During her debut, she captured her first Diva Championship. At only 21-years-old, this win made her the youngest champion in the title’s history. Along with winning two Divas Championships, she was the inaugural NXT women’s champion.

In 2016, Paige (whose real name is Saraya-Jade Bevis) faced some controversy when she was put on a 30-day suspension for violating the company’s wellness policy. Paige claims it was due to a “procedural issue.” However, she was suspended a second time, for 60-days, for another violation of the wellness policy. The WWE released a statement that said Paige had tested positive for an illegal substance. She returned, in 2017, as a member of the trio Absolution.

Melina joined the WWE in 2004. Her first position was as the manager of the tag team MNM. She helped the team win three different Championships. She made her debut as a single in 2005. Her tenacity along with the very impressive arsenal of offensive maneuvers helped her earn three Women’s Championships and two Divas Championships.

Melina left the WWE in 2012. However, after a 3-year hiatus, in 2015, she returned to the ring in various independent circuits. She made appearances in circuits such as the Southside Wrestling Entertainment and Maryland Championship Wrestling. Her last in-ring appearance was in 2016. Today, she likes to blog about her various philanthropic efforts and life, as well as make several public appearances across the country.

Michelle McCool was the first woman to win both a Divas and Women’s Championship. However, the accomplishment didn’t surprise anyone as McCool was willing to do whatever it took to succeed. Some of her crazy antics included brutalizing Marie and Eve outside the ring as well as smashing a cake of Mickie Rickie. McCool left the WWE after ending a longtime partnership with Layla.

Michelle McCool has mainly stayed away from the ring over the past few years. However, she is often seen cheering on her husband, The Undertaker, ringside. In her spare time, Michelle is enjoying being a wife and mother and is a devout Christian.

Alexa Bliss In The Ring

From 2013-2016, Alexa Bliss competed in the WWE’s NXT brand. In 2016, she was drafted into the SmackDown Brand. By the end of her first year, she was named the SmackDown Women’s Champion. It was obvious that Alexa Bliss was going to continue her rise through the ranks and she was drafted into the Raw brand in 2017. She is currently the longest-reigning Raw Women’s Champion.

Before she was a pro-wrestler, Alexis Bliss, born Alexis Kaufman, was a bodybuilder. Of course, this strength helped her become dominant in the ring. Bliss is a big fan of Disney and cosplay. She has said that many of her wardrobes in the ring are inspired by some of her favorite characters such as Freddy Kreuger, Iron Man and Harley Quinn.

Mickie James started her wrestling career as a valet in the late 90s in the independent circuits. After working as a valet, she trained and became a solo wrestler in several circuits until she was signed to the WWE in 2005. James’ hard work continued during her time in the WWE, and she went on to win five Women’s Championships and a Diva’s Championship.

Outside of wrestling, Mickie James is a country music singer. She has released two albums and, in January 2018, she dropped her latest single titled “Don’t be Afraid to Fly.” She was inducted into the Native American Music Hall of Fame in October 2017. Mickie now spends most of her time being a mom and helping run her family ranch.

As the daughter of the WWE Chairman, one would expect Stephanie McMahon to have a big impact on the industry. She began her role on-camera as just a t-shirt model in the late 90s until she was abducted by The Undertaker. The “abduction” was the jumpstart to her major involvement with the business. She would eventually graduate to a wrestler and pair up with others such as Test and Triple H. After only appearing sporadically between 2001-2007, in 2008, she was named the Raw brand General Manager. Today, she is the CBO for all of WWE.

After having an on-camera storyline with Triple H, Stephanie Mcmahon also began an off-camera storyline with Triple H. Although they separated in the ring, they got married in real life. However, she doesn’t sit back and let her husband get all the glory. She is still very active in the WWE and even recently signed Ronda Rousey. McMahon will return to the ring in April 2018 for the first time since 2014 to take on Rousey in Wrestlemania 34.

Wendi Richter joined the WWE in 1983 and started a feud with The Fabulous Moolah, defeating her to become champion in 1984. Richter became one of the stars of 80’s wrestling, and even crossovered into mainstream appeal when she appeared in Cyndi Lauper’s “She Bop” video. She lost the championship title in 1985 after being defeated by her arch rival.

After leaving the WWE, Wrichter wrestled in independent companies for the rest of the 80’s before leaving wrestling for good. She channeled her love of sports into becoming a physical therapist. She is also a dog lover and even competed in the prestigious Westminster Kennel Dog Show. She was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2010.

Sasha Banks started her career in the Boston independent wrestling scene and worked her way up through the various WWE minor league companies. She joined the NXT promotion in 2014 and quickly became champion before moving to WWE Raw where her star truly shone. Since that time she has become women’s champion four times!

Banks was born in California but her family moved around a lot in order to take proper care of her disabled brother. Eventually, they settled in Boston where she was able to start her professional career. She had help developing her stage persona from her cousin, who is none other than legendary rapper Snoop Dogg. In 2016 she married former wrestler Kid Mikaze, who now works in costume design in the WWE.

Trish Stratus was a fitness model before she began her wrestling career as a manager. After spending a lot of time in the ring as a manager and building her skills, Trish branched out on her own and became one of the most dominant Divas ever to enter the ring. She won seven WWE Women’s Championship, was named “WWE Babe of the Year “three times and was proclaimed “Diva of the Decade.”

Trish Stratus, born Patricia Stratigeas, has only made sporadic appearances in the WWE since 2007. However, she did compete in the inaugural Women’s Royal Rumble and was the 5th woman left standing. To this day she is considered one of the winningest Divas and is a big influence on incoming female wrestlers. In 2008, Trish opened a yoga studio called Stratusphere in Canada. She still owns and operates the studio today.

Nikki Bella was signed with the WWE in 2007 and sent to the Florida Championship Wrestling developmental territory with her sister Brie. The duo formed The Bella Twins. She made her debut on SmackDown in 2008. She has since been named a two-time WWE Divas Championship. Her second reign, of 301 days, is considered the longest in the title’s history.

Aside from her beauty and strength, Nikki Bella may be best known for being the fiance of fellow wrestler Jon Cena. The two began dating in 2012 and in 2017, at WrestleMania 33, Cena proposed. 2017 was a big year for Nikki as she also competed on the reality series “Dancing with the Stars” and launched a lifestyle intimates and activewear brand with her sister called Birdiebee.

Like many others, Lita worked in the independent circuit before getting signed by the WWE in 1999. She was first paired with Essa Rios. However, she had a major breakthrough after being put alongside Matt and Jeff Hardy. In the beginning, she was loved by all fans, until a real-life storyline of betrayal was brought into the ring. She would go on to win four Women’s Championships. She retired from the ring in 2007 and formed the punk rock band “The Luchagors.”

In 2014, Amy “Lita” Dumas was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. The following year, she served as a trainer on the reality series “Tough Enough.” That same year, she was announced as a creative writer for the WWE on a full-time basis. Lita recently took to her Instagram and asked her fans to help name her future show. She didn’t give much detail about said show. However, you can expect to see more of her soon.

Asuka started her career as a wrestler being known as Kana. She began her career in Japan in 2004 and was signed to the WWE brand in August 2015. After spending two years in their developmental territories, she was brought up to the main promotions. She has been noted as having one of the longest undefeated streaks in the industry.

Asuka is a dominant force in the WWE. One of her most recent titles includes the winner of the first ever Women’s Royal Rumble. Asuka is not only a talent in the ring but also in real life. Outside of wrestling, she is known as Kanako Urai and she has worked as a writer, graphic designer, and hair salon owner.

Alicia Fox debuted in the SmackDown brand as a wedding planner for Edge and Vickie Guerrero in 2008. After which she was moved the ECW brand and managed DJ Gabriel. In 2009, she began challenging for the WWE Divas Championship. She won the title in 2010 and became the first ever African American Divas Champion.

Alicia Fox, whose real name is Victoria Crawford, is one of the longest-tenured female wrestlers currently signed with the WWE. Unfortunately, she had to sit out the recent history-making Women’s Royal Rumble match due to a tailbone injury. Outside of wrestling, she is very involved with charities that support the U.S. troops as well as cancer research and awareness.

During the 1980s and 1990s, Alundra Blayze (also known as Madusa) was one of the leading female wrestlers in the industry. She joined the WWF in 1993 and feuded with wrestlers such as Bull Nakano. However, many remember her for throwing her WWF Women’s Championship belt in the trash. This act led her to be banned from the WWF for the next 20 years.

In 2015, Alundra Blayze (birth name Debrah Ann Miceli) was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. A trashcan was brought out on stage, with a Women’s Championship belt, which Miceli pulled out and stated the belt was back where it belonged. Outside of wrestling, she competes in the world of Monster Trucks under her original moniker of Madusa.

Becky Lynch started her career wrestling in the independent circuits in Europe. She was extremely successful until 2006 when she suffered a brain injury and was diagnosed with possible cranial never damage. She did not return to wrestling until 2011. She signed a contract with the WWE in 2013. Three years later, she became the inaugural SmackDown Women’s Champion.

Before she became a professional wrestler, Rebecca Quin, better known as Becky Lynch, studied acting in Ireland. Her studies certainly help her excel in the ring. However, wrestling isn’t the only place she has used her acting talents. She has acted as a stunt woman as well as recently filmed her first movie. The film titled “Marine 6: Close Quarters” also stars WWE legends The Miz and Shawn Michaels.

The former member of the Los Angeles Clippers Spirit Dance Team, Eve Torres, won the 2007 Diva Search. She quickly rose to the top level of WWE, and in 2010, she became the first ever Diva Search winner to capture the Diva’s Championship. She unexpectedly won the title after taking down Maryse. Eve retired from the ring in 2013.

Eve Torres was a force to be reckoned with in the ring. However, she is also a powerhouse in real life. Since retiring from the WWE, she has a worked as a jiu-jitsu teacher. She has also expanded into acting and has appeared in several productions. She had roles in “Matador,” “The Scorpion King 4: Quest for Power,” and “Supergirl.” If those talents weren’t enough, she is also brilliant as she earned a university degree in industrial and systems engineering.

Layla started her entertainment career as a dancer. She worked as a dancer on the Carnival Cruise Lines, in the Miami Heat dance squad, and she even danced in a Kanye West Show. She won the WWE Diva Search in 2006. She started in SmackDown, however, was moved to ECW to perform as part of Extreme Expose. After returning to SmackDown, she partnered with Michelle McCool and formed LayCool. She won the WWE Divas Championship in 2012, becoming the first British Woman to hold the title.

Layla officially retired from in-ring competition in July 2015. That year, she also married fellow wrestler Ricky Ortiz. Today, she lives a much more calm life. No longer is she taking down fellow Divas, but rather putting up for sale signs. She works as a real estate agent, and she lives with her husband in Arizona.

Maryse worked for years a model before she participated in the 2006 Diva Search. Although she didn’t win, she was still signed by the WWE. In 2009, she became the first wrestler to win the Diva’s Championship twice. Maryse was originally released from her WWE in 2012. However, she recently made a comeback as a manager to help her husband.

In 2016, Maryse returned to the WWE to manage her husband, The Miz. She led him to win the Intercontinental Championship. She was eventually reintroduced her into the ring but left again due to her recent pregnancy. She and her husband are also expected to appear on a new reality series titled “Miz & Mrs.” The series is expected to debut on the USA network in 2018.

Sable is considered one of the defining wrestlers to help usher in “The Attitude Era.” She is considered one of the first Divas in the industry and was extremely popular. She left the company in the late 90s and filed a lawsuit against it for sexual harassment and unsafe working conditions. The suit was settled out of court. She returned to the WWE in 2003, but once again retired in 2004.

Sable, born Rena Greek, has been married to fellow wrestler Brock Lesnar since 2006. They have two sons together, Turk and Duke. Aside from attending her husband’s matches, Sable stays out the limelight. She spends time with her family on their farm in Saskatchewan, Canada.

Ronda Rosey rose to sports glory after becoming the first American woman to win a medal at the Olympics for Judo. After becoming an American hero, she was easily able to transition into professional mixed martial arts fighting. Through extreme athleticism and crazy maneuvers such as the armbar, Rousey went on to win the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship and the Strikeforce Women’s Bantamweight Championship. She recently retired from UFC. However, in 2018, it was announced that she would be joining a new industry.

From 2014-2017, Ronda Rousey made sporadic appearances in the WWE. At the Royal Rumble in 2018, it was announced the Rousey had signed a full contract with the WWE. She is expected to debut in her first match at WrestleMania 34. She will team up with Kurt Angle against Stephanie McMahon and Triple H.
