The hit action series NCIS (which stands for Naval Criminal Investigative Service) has been home to a lot of memorable, strong female characters over the years. From Cote de Pablo as Ziva David to Pauley Perrette as Abby Sciuto and many more, there have always been compelling female characters on NCIS, and that trend doesn’t seem to be slowing down. Let’s see what some of the key women from the history of NCIS are up to now and see how they look when they aren’t investigating Navy and Marine-related crimes.
Pauley Perrette Then
On NCIS, Pauley Perrette was both a fan favorite and an important part of the series as Abby Sciuto. Pauley was cast perfectly as Abby, who was an expert at her job but definitely dressed the part of a non-conformist. She was known for trying all kinds of styles out, from pigtails and choker necklaces to black and white-themed outfits.
Pauley Perrette Now
NCIS fans were undoubtedly shocked when they heard that Pauley would be leaving the cast of NCIS after an astounding 15-year run on the show. After her time on the show, she’ll definitely shock fans who didn’t know that her spiderweb tattoo was not real and her hair is much lighter in real life. She was recently seen in the TV miniseries When We Rise playing the role of Robin.
Stephanie Mello Then
Stephanie Mello played the role of Cynthia Sumner on NCIS. When she began her time on the show, Stephanie’s character was a personal assistant that worked closely with several of the other characters. She quickly became known by fans for her great sense of style and for her constant bickering with Leroy Gibbs, who for some reason always wanted to annoy her when she needed to get work done.
Stephanie Mello Now
Although Stephanie’s role on NCIS concluded about 15 years ago, fans of the show would still instantly recognize her for her perfect skin and distinctive curly hair. She continues to act, having appeared in shows such as Big Time Rush, although a lot of her acting work has been in commercials and other venues instead of as part of a television show.
Emily Wickersham Then
As Eleanor Bishop, Emily Wickersham was one of the more often seen characters of NCIS. During her time on the show, Emily’s character really changed, even getting a divorce later on. Despite that, Eleanor’s professionalism never waned, and it was reflected in her no-nonsense look. She was often seen wearing ponytails or baseball caps during the show.
Emily Wickersham Now
Although she has been on NCIS for six years now, Emily is also well known for her roles in films such as Gone, I Am Number Four, and Remember Me. Still, she has appeared on 112 episodes of NCIS and even an episode of the New Orleans-based spinoff, so the show is pretty much her home. It’s always a shock to see her dressed up on the red carpet considering her character’s functional approach to fashion.
Liza Lapira Then
On NCIS, the role of Michelle Lee is played by Liza Lapira. Michelle plays an important role on the show considering the fact that she is part of a very prestigious legal team. Later on, of course, it’s discovered that Liza is actually a high-ranking spy. She was perfect for the role, as her dark features make her both unassuming and mysterious at the same time.
Liza Lapira Now
Liza has really kept busy outside of her role on NCIS. She has appeared on many high profile shows, including Dexter. Many fans also saw her on the big screen in films such as Crazy Stupid Love and Fast & Furious. If you want to see Liza regularly on TV, check her out on the show 9JKL, on which she plays the part of Eve.
Nina Foch Then
Nina Foch gained a lot of notoriety during her time on NCIS, when she appeared a couple of times as Victoria Mallard, Ducky Mallard’s mother. She made a big impression on viewers but then it was explained that Victoria had developed Alzheimer’s disease. Of course, Ducky was very private about the situation and actually hid the fact that she died from everyone until Abby found out.
Nina Foch Now
You may be surprised to find out that outside of NCIS, Nina Foch was quite a stylish older lady. She liked to wear her hair in a variety of short blonde styles. Unfortunately, not long after she appeared on the show The Closer, she passed away at age 84. This was back in 2008, but you can bet that NCIS fans won’t soon forget Nina.
Tamara Taylor Then
Tamara Taylor appeared as Cassie Yates in 2005 on NCIS. Cassie was a special agent in the show, but she didn’t get much of a chance to make an impact, as she ended up appearing in only two episodes. However, she did make a good impression on viewers with her business-like look and stylish bangs, and apparently producers liked what they saw, too: she’s been acting consistently ever since.
Tamara Taylor Now
TV viewers don’t have to look hard to find Tamara Taylor on the tube, as she currently plays Oumou Prescott on the show Altered Carbon. Most notably, she played Camille Saroyan for 223 episodes of the hit show Bones. She has also appeared recently in films such as August Falls and the short film Sunday.
Jessica Steen Then
Viewers who have been with NCIS since the beginning probably remember Jessica Steen’s first appearance as Paula Cassidy. Unfortunately, we haven’t gotten to learn a lot about Jessica’s character, as she’s had a recurring role on the show but appeared only sporadically at best. In fact, her 2015 appearance was her first time on the show in eight years!
Jessica Steen Now
During a long and successful acting career, Jessica Stein has played roles in everything from Loving to Armageddon. More recently, Jessica has gone into her 50s but still looks amazing with her distinctive blonde hair. She has appeared in more TV series than films in recent years, including Heartland and Those Damn Canadians.
Maria Bello Then
Compared to many of the regulars on NCIS, Maria Bello is a newcomer, having just made her debut on the long-running show during its 15th season. Bello plays Jackie Sloane, who has played a very important role on the show. Like many of the actresses on NCIS, Maria’s character requires her to take a more casual approach with understated fashion and casual blonde locks.
Maria Bello Now
Just as with many Hollywood actresses, Maria Bello has played a wide variety of roles over the years. In appearances in such big films as Prisoners, Secret Window, and A History of Violence, she has played a great range of different women and adapted her look accordingly. She currently has three parts in upcoming films.
Rena Sofer Then
Back in season 7 of NCIS, you may remember Rena Sofer playing Margaret Allison Hart, a seemingly cold-blooded attorney that brought her no-nonsense attitude to the courtroom as she ran up against Gibbs in a contentious court case. On the show, her look mirrored her character’s attitude, with a lot of conservative black suits and straight black hair.
Rena Sofer Now
Of course, Rena Sofer is a talented actress and not like her rather vindictive character on NCIS in real life. She has played a number of roles that include Quinn Fuller on The Bold and the Beautiful, in which she appeared in nearly 500 episodes. She has also shown off her beautiful wavy hair in such films as Another Man’s Wife and A Stranger Among Us.
Vanessa Ferlito Then
Before Vanessa Ferlito was portraying Tammy on NCIS: New Orleans, she was scoring roles on related television shows like Law & Order, 24 and Graceland. That said, her most famous role was that of Aiden Burn in CSI: Miami and CSI: New York. It was her success in this role amongst the others that eventually landed her the top spot on NCIS: New Orleans.
Vanessa Ferlito Now
Most recently is Vanessa Ferlito’s career, she has scored the role of Tammy in NCIS: New Orleans. She is just one of the agents in charge of investigating crimes committed by the Navy and Marines in the territory range of the Missippi River. In her case, Tammy is an agent is who is a native of DC and is sent down South to show the folks down there how it’s really done.
Lauren Holly Then
It’s hard for Lauren Holly not to stand out from the crowd due to her trademark red hair, but this was especially true on NCIS, when she often wore her short red hair in a spiky style that really stood out from all of the ponytails and caps. As Director Jenny Shepard, she was a leader that was looked up to by many of the other characters, but was ultimately killed by a hitman in season five.
Lauren Holly Now
Lauren Holly has acted for many years, appearing in films such as Dumb and Dumber and TV series including Picket Fences. She has rarely had opportunities to star in big productions, but she has always been a successful character actor and has 94 credits to her name. Recently, she appeared in the film The Blackcoat’s Daughter.
Jennifer Esposito Then
You may remember Jennifer Esposito as Alexandra Quinn, a role that she played for on season on NCIS. Quinn was an NCIS Special Agent who reported to Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs. Although fans of the show seemed to like Jennifer’s character, she decided to leave the show after a season and her character was written out, as it was explained that she had to care for her aging mother.
Jennifer Esposito Now
Jennifer Esposito has made sure to keep busy after her days of playing Alexandra Quinn on NCIS came to an end. During her time on NCIS, she was already appearing on the TV series The Affair. She recently filmed a role in the crime thriller Speed Kills, which will also feature John Travolta, Matthew Modine, and Tom Sizemore.
Scottie Thompson Then
Scottie Thompson played Dr. Jeanne Benoit on NCIS. At first, it was thought that her only connection to the team was being the girlfriend of Special Agent Tony DiNozzo. Later on, though, it was found that she was also Rene Benoit’s daughter. In 2008, Jeanne and Tony split up and Scottie found herself off the show, although she has come back on occasion for an appearance or two.
Scottie Thompson Now
Since her latest appearance on NCIS in 2016, Scottie has acted in a number of films, including Before I Wake, Dead on Arrival, Broken Ghost, and the upcoming film Epiphany. She has also had a recurring role in the TV series 12 Monkeys. She played Cassiel in the independent film Limbo, which will be released in 2019.
Millie Bobby Brown Then
Millie Bobby Brown was one of a number of child actors that have been featured on NCIS. In particularly, she played the daughter of a murdered woman on the episode “Parental Guidance Suggested,” which aired in 2014. She is interviewed by Gibbs and the team during the episode as they try to ascertain the identity of her mother’s killer.
Millie Bobby Brown Now
Although Millie Bobby Brown was an unknown child actress when she appeared on NCIS, that all changed when she was cast as Eleven in the hit Netflix original series Stranger Things. She is currently working on season three of that show, but has also moved into the world of movies with her role in Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
Juliette Angelo Then
You may remember young Juliette Angelo from her handful of appearances over the years as Emily Fornell, former FBI Agent Tobias Fornell’s daughter with ex-wife Diane Sterling. She first appeared on the show in 2013 and has since appeared on four more episodes in 2015 and 2016. She hasn’t been seen on the show since, but who knows what the future will hold.
Juliette Angelo Now
Juliette Angelo has always had a lot of supporting roles in TV series during her career, including The Haunted Hathaways, Malibu Country, Mad Men, and of course, NCIS. That has not changed in the last couple of years, as she landed the role of Geneva in the hit TV series Shameless and also made an appearance in the show Speechless.
Margo Harshman Then
Margo Harshman joined NCIS as young Delilah Fielding back in 2013, but she has been acting for much longer than that. She moved on from beauty pageants as a young girl to acting at just eight years old. She had a breakthrough role in the 1997 comedy The Elf Who Didn’t Believe and also appeared on the TV series Even Stevens, among others.
Margo Harshman Now
These days, Margo Harshman has grown up and is taking a wider variety of roles than the kid-friendly fare that she started her career with. Her latest acting roles have included everything from the horror film Sorority Row and the comedy College Road Trip to a stint as Sheldon Cooper’s assistant, Alex, on The Big Bang Theory.
Weronika Rosati Then
Stunning Polish actress Weronika Rosati played Rivka in the NCIS episode “Berlin.” The episode took place in the tenth season of NCIS and featured Rosati as Ziva and Tali David’s mother. As an actress, Rosati got her start in Polish soap operas before moving on to play Dzemma in the film Pitbull. She’s a member of the European Film Academy.
Weronika Rosati Now
Weronika has had a lot of success in her acting career so far. In fact, she was nominated for best actress at the 2013 Polish Film Awards for her role in Oblawa. Elsewhere, she has appeared in True Detective, The Detour, and the film USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage. She has two films in post-production, including Max & Me and Music, War and Love.
Zoe McLellan Then
Before she played Special Agent Meredith Brody on NCIS in 2014, Zoe McLellan had already appeared in a number of TV series. Her credits at the time included The Mentalist, Royal Pains, and The Whole Truth, as well as the soap Dirty Sexy Money. She also appeared in the film Dungeons & Dragons in 2000. After appearing on NCIS, she moved over to a lead role on NCIS: New Orleans.
Zoe McLellan Now
Unfortunately for fans of Zoe’s, she decided not to come back for another season of NCIS: New Orleans after 2016. Instead, she has appeared regularly on Designated Survivor, playing White House counsel Kendra Daynes. In her personal life, she was married to actor J.P. Gillian, but they divorced in 2016. They have a son together, however.
Susanna Thompson Then
Although Susanna Thompson played Lt. Colonel Hollis Mann on eight episodes of NCIS, she is more known for her time playing four characters on various Star Trek shows, including the Borg Queen on Star Trek: Voyager and Star Trek: The Next Generation. She also appeared in films such as Hearts and Dragonfly before her time on NCIS.
Susanna Thompson Now
Susanna Thompson moved into the world of superhero series when she played Moira Queen on the hit series Arrow. She has also shown up on the biblical series King and the drama Timeless, on which she plays Carolyn Preston. In her personal life, things seem to be going really well as she is married to University of San Diego professor Martin Katz.
Alicia Coppola Then
Years ago, Alicia Coppola’s career in front of the camera began when she worked on Remote Control a game show on MTV. She then moved on to play Lorna Devon on the popular soap opera Another World. Of course, on NCIS, she would appear as Lt. Commander Faith Coleman in three episodes in 2004 and 2005. Strangely enough, when she showed up on four episodes of NCIS: Los Angeles, it wasn’t as Faith but as FBI Agent Lisa Rand.
Alicia Coppola Now
In her real life, Alicia is a successful actress who is married to an actor, Anthony Michael Jones. Her hubby is known for playing Father Coates on General Hospital, so both performers have had experience in the world of soap operas. Alicia just completed a role in the TV movie Stay and like fellow NCIS alum Sasha Alexander, has appeared on several episodes of Shameless.
Jamie Lee Curtis Then
Way back in 1978, Jamie Lee Curtis made her iconic first appearance in the horror classic Halloween. Obviously, it was a huge success and after a few more genre films such as Terror Train and Prom Night, she successfully made the transition to A-list star in movies like True Lies. On NCIS, Jamie Lee Curtis played the role of Dr. Samantha Ryan on five episodes in 2012.
Jamie Lee Curtis Now
Outside of her acting career, Jamie is happily married to Christopher Guest, himself a quite notable actor, director, and screenwriter. She has been active in the comedy horror show Scream Queens, for which she earned a Golden Globe nomination (her sixth overall). When she’s not performing in front of the camera, she’s an avid writer, both as a blogger and as a children’s book author.
Linda Hunt Then/post_page_title]
Linda Hunt first made a name for herself in 1982’s The Year of Living Dangerously, in which she won an Academy Award for her role as a male character. In NCIS: Los Angeles, she played a role that’s not nearly that much of a stretch, as she has starred as Henriette “Hetty” Lange for an impressive 216 episodes going back to 2009.
Linda continues to star in NCIS: Los Angeles and has earned a lot of critical and fan acclaim for her role on the show. She lives in California with her spouse, Karen Klein. Aside from television, she has also appeared recently in the film The Relationtrip and done voice work for several video games in the God of War series.
Sarah Jane Morris Then
The role of NCIS Special Agent Erica Jane Barrett, better known by her nickname “E.J.,” was played by Sarah Jane Morris for eight episodes in 2011 and 2012. She is probably better known for her long run as Julia Walker in the TV drama Brothers & Sisters, which took place before her NCIS debut. She got her start in small roles on the TV series Undressed and the film Coyote Ugly.
Sarah Jane Morris Now
Although she didn’t have a gigantic role in NCIS, she has been quite active since her appearances on the hit show, acting in Mad Men, Grey’s Anatomy, The Night Shift, and other shows. Perhaps most notably, she landed the lead role of Megan Quinn in the 2017 TV movie Love Struck Cafe. She also starred as Rebecca in the upcoming film Don’t Look There.
Darby Stanchfield Then
While Darby Stanchfield would eventually play Shannon Gibbs on seven episodes of NCIS from 2006 to 2015, she actually got started in acting when she appeared in a number of theater roles. Daniela Ruah Then
It may have seemed like not much was going to happen with Daniela Ruah’s character of Kensi Blye when she appeared in just two episodes during 2009. Things actually turned out great for Daniela, though, as Kensi would go on to become one of the main characters of the spinoff NCIS: Los Angeles. She has gone undercover a number of times in the show, giving her character the chance to try different looks and personas.
Daniela Ruah Now
Though she was born in Massachusetts, Daniela owes her exotic look to her Portuguese parents. The talented beauty generally works an understated look as an NCIS agent, but in real life likes to dress up and let her hair down – literally – for celebrity events. She has been busy enough doing NCIS: Los Angeles for the past nine years that she’s only filmed one movie and a couple of short films outside of the show.
Sasha Alexander Then
When NCIS first hit airwaves, Sasha Alexander was part of the initial cast, playing Caitlin Todd, a former Secret Service Agent and eventual NCIS Special Agent. Unfortunately, Caitlin was murdered in the final seconds of season two, as she was felled by a sniper’s bullet. Her appearances on the show have been limited to a couple of flashbacks in the years since.
Sasha Alexander Now
Sasha has done well since her time ended on NCIS, moving on to films such as Yes Man and Love Happens before landing a starring role in the long-running series Rizzoli & Isles. Recently, she went from playing Helene Runyon on Shameless to filming roles in the movies Bernard and Huey and Amanda McKay.
Cote de Pablo Then
Cote de Pablo was cast as Ziva David, a former Israeli soldier turned special agent. On NCIS, she took over after the murder of her predecessor, Special Agent Caitlin Todd. Of course, years later it’s learned that Ziva’s half-brother, Ari Haswari, was the one who committed the crime. Ultimately, Ziva returned to Israel later on and was revealed to have died in a mortar attack in 2016.
Cote de Pablo Now
Fortunately, in real life Cote de Pablo is alive and well, having moved on to act in the TV miniseries The Dovekeepers and the film The 33. Most recently, she starred in the 2016 TV movie Prototype as Laura Kale. Cote, who was born in Chile but raised in Miami, and she broke up with long-term boyfriend Diego Serrano in 2015. She now lives in Los Angeles.
