The ‘It’ Girls Of The 90s: Then & Now


Oh, the 90s. The peak of boy bands, over-tweezed eyebrows, bell-bottom jeans, and frosted hair tips. However, we know the 90’s was actually all about the “It” girls. Stars like Winona Ryder and Gwyneth Paltrow rose to superstardom in the 90s and still continue to dazzle us, while other women like Yasmine Bleeth and Jenna Von Oy have since vanished from the limelight. Here’s a list of your favorite 90’s women and where they are today.

Jennifer Love Hewitt

Jennifer Love Hewitt became Hollywood’s sweetheart after landing the role of Sarah Reeves, in the teen TV drama series “Party of Five.” She rose to superstardom after starring in the thriller film and its sequel, “I Know What You Did Last Summer.” After the 90s, she appeared in various movies. However, she found more success back in her roots, through TV acting. She starred in the CBS series “Ghost Whisperer,” which she also produced, and most recently from 2014-2015, had a recurring role on “Criminal Minds.” However, she left the show due to the pregnancy of her second child.

Julia Stiles

Julia Stiles made her on-screen debut, on the TV series “Ghost Writer,” in 1993. The show gave a huge boost to her career, and she was able to quickly jump into films. She appeared alongside Harrison Ford and Brad Pitt, in the 1998 thriller “Wicked,” and ended the decade co-starring with Heath Ledger, in “10 Things I Hate About You.” Her acting success has only continued. She has landed roles in blockbuster movies such as the “Jason Bourne” films, “Silver Linings Playbook”, and “Mona Lisa Smile.” In 2017, she starred in the TV mini-series “Riviera.”

Claire Danes

Claire Danes got her big break after landing the lead role of Angela Chase, on the TV series “My So-Called Life.” Although the show only lasted for 1 season, Danes proved she was ready for bigger roles. In 1996, she became the envy of girls everywhere, when she got to play opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in “Romeo + Juliet.” She finished the decade strong appearing in films such as “Les Miserables” and “The Mod Squad.” However, her arguably best roles did not surface until around 2010. Her performance as the title character “Temple Grandin,” received high accolades, as well as her lead role in the series “Homeland.” She is currently credited with appearing in a film titled “A Kid Like Jake,” that is in pre-production.

Mandy Moore

Mandy Moore released her debut single “Candy,” in 1999. The single reached number 41 on the Billboard Hot 100, but she became number one in everyone’s hearts. Her debut album “So Real,” was certified platinum, the same year. Beginning in the early 2000s, she added actress to her resume. She appeared alongside Anne Hathaway in “The Princess Diaries” and starred in the romantic drama “A Walk to Remember.” She has continued to land roles in films. However, many have come to know her as Rebecca Pearson in the hit TV show “This Is Us.”

Mandy Moore

Tia Carrere

Before the 1990s, Tia Carrere had appeared in various TV shows and films. However, many remember her best for her performance as Cassandra, the love interest of Michael Myer’s character, in “Wayne’s World,” and “Wayne’s World 2.” She has continued to act, landing roles in various TV shows and films. A fact less known about Tia is she is also a singer and won a Grammy award in 2011 for Best Hawaiian Music Album.

Lark Voorhies

Lark Voorhies rose to fame after landing the role of Lisa Turtle on teen TV series “Saved by the Bell.” Her performance in the role, which she played from 1989-1992, received 6 Young Artist Awards nominations (2 of which she won). She continued to appear in various TV shows such as “The Bold and the Beautiful” and “In the House.” Her acting career continued into the early 2000s. However, it has seemed to fizzle out since 2010. But, since 2010 she has released 3 books: Reciprocity, Trek of the Cheshire, and A True Light.

Supermodel Kate Moss arrived on the scene after she posed in Vogue, in the summer of 1993. The 19-year-old’s photos were called hideous and ugly. However, she continued to push forward. What stood out the most to people and designers was her body shape. With many curvaceous models dominating the 90s such as Cindy Crawford and Elle Macpherson, Moss was certainly not that, at a size 0. She continued to land modeling gigs and was even named one of TIME’s 100 most influential people in the world. She has since released a clothing line, multiple perfumes and wrote songs. She is still considered one of the most popular and marketable British models to ever go through the industry.

Amy Jo Johnson

Amy Jo Johnson made pink more than just a girly color. But, a color that could be defined with strength and courage. Johnson played Kimberly Hart, or The Pink Ranger, on the TV series “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.” She played the role from 1993-1999. She continued acting, and also dabbled in singing. She released her first album, in 2001, and has released 2 more since. She is writing and directing an indie comedy film called “The Space Between,” which is reported to be released sometime in 2017.

Amy Jo Johnson

Brandy Norwood

Brandy broke into Hollywood through her angelic singing voice. In 1994, her self-titled album quickly rose up the charts and went platinum. However, she also had acting skills and made the jump to TV in 1996, landing the title character role on “Moesha.” She has continued to see much success on TV, with recurring roles in series such as “90210”, “The Game”, and “Zoe Ever After.”

Kristen Kreuk

Kristin Kreuk is best known for her role as Lana Lang in the TV series Smallville. Her resume also includes several seasons on the soap opera Edgement as well as a small role in film Eurotrip. Her most recent role was as Catherine Chandler, played from 2012-2016, on the series “Beauty and the Beast.” She has been announced as the lead role in the upcoming 2018 series “Burden of Truth.”

Alyssa Milano

Alyssa Milano became a household name after landing the role of Samantha Micelli on the TV sitcom “Who’s The Boss?” She played Samantha from 1984-1992. “Who’s the Boss?” made her a “go to” girl for multiple TV shows, such as “Melrose Place” and “Charmed.” Although she has since appeared in various films, TV is still where she sees most of her success. She recently appeared on TV series “Romantically Challenged” and “Mistresses.”

Tracey Gold

Tracey Gold is best remembered for her role as Carol Seaver in the TV series “Growing Pains”, from 1985-1992. However, during this time, her battle with anorexia was widely scrutinized by the media. After her recovery, in 1994, she played the cathartic role of Nancy Walsh in the film “For the Love of Nancy.” The film featured a woman’s battle with anorexia and the effects it has on her family. Since the 90s she has had a steady career that mainly consists of roles in TV movies. Her last on-screen role was in 2016 film “All Hallows’ Eve.”

Liv Tyler

Live Tyler would be famous no matter what she decided to do. She was born into rock ‘n’ roll royalty as the daughter of Aerosmith’s frontman Steve Tyler, and model Bebe Buell. However, she truly stepped out of her parents’ shadows after landing major roles, in the 1990’s, in films such as “Empire Records”, “The Thing You Do!”, and “Armageddon”. Since then, her career has only continued to flourish. She appeared in all 3 of the “Lord of the Rings” films, and most recently, in 2017, had a recurring role of the TV series “The Leftovers”.

Karyn Parsons

Karyn Parsons rose to national fame after landing the role of Hilary Banks on the NBC sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” She played the spoiled, cousin of Will Smith from 1990-1996. She remained mainly out of the spotlight, following the wrap of the show. However, she appeared in various TV shows and film. But, keep an eye out for her, as she is currently credited with a role, in the announced 2018 TV series “Fly.” Parsons is also the founder and President of the non-profit Sweet Blackberry. The mission of the foundation is “is to bring little-known stories of African American achievement to children everywhere,” through film.

When Fiona was 17-years-old, she wrote the album “Tidal.” It was released 2 years later and became a huge success. She received a Grammy award for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance for the single “Criminal”. Her second album “When The Pawn…” was released in ’99 and was certified platinum. She went on to release two more albums. However,  she recently made headlines after writing the song “Tiny Hands” for the Women’s March on Washington, in 2017.

Naomi Campbell

At the age of 15, Naomi Campbell was recruited by a modeling agency. Her career began with a bang, and by the time she was 16-years-old, she had appeared on the cover of British Elle magazine. Although she faced some racial discrimination, the industry completely supported her, and she appeared on several magazine covers, walked in couture fashion shows, and appeared in multiple music videos. In the mid to late 90s, she dabbled in writing and singing. Unfortunately, neither were as successful as her modeling career. She has since released many perfumes, became a reality TV show judge, as well as made the jump to TV acting (appearing on shows such as Empire and American Horror Story).

Jenna Von Oy

In the late 1980s, Jenna Von Oy appeared in various TV shows and films. However, she got her big break when she landed the role of Six Lemure of the TV series “Blossom”, a role which she played from 1990-1995. When the show wrapped filming, Jenna decided to go university to study film. However, she never finished her degree and dropped out after 2 years to return to acting. However, she never saw the success she had in the early 90s. But, she did release a music album in 2007 and is also a published author.


Lucy Liu

Lucy Liu is best known for her portrayal of Ling Woo on the series Ally McBeal. She was one of the first and most prominent asian female characters of the decade. Her performance was nominated for several Emmys. After the show ended, she became the star of the rebooted Charlie’s Angels franchise. She continues working in film and television and can be seen as Joan Watson on the series Elementary.

Fairuza Balk

Fairuza Balk became an indie film starlet after playing a teenage witch in the hit film The Craft. Since then, her striking looks and goth sensibility have led to a career filled with spooky and seductive roles, even turning to real darkness as a neo-nazi in American History X opposite Edward Norton. She has appeared in dozens of films and also has a fruitful career as a voice-over actress and visual artist. She was recently seen in a recurring role on the TV show Ray Donovan.

Paris Hilton

If you got back to the year 2006, you’ll hear the name Paris Hilton bounce around to no end. She was one of the big “it” girls of the 2000’s. She rose to star as a Hollywood socialite who eventually got a reality television deal. She then went into music and actual real acting. Today she is but a memory from ten years ago, but she’ll pop up once in a while.


Anna Gunn

Anna Gunn is an award-winning actress with a long list of credits behind her. After first appearing in Quantum Leap, she acted in some the 90’s biggest shows, including Seinfeld, ER, and Law & Order. She is most widely recognized for her role as Skyler White on Breaking Bad, a role for which she won two Emmys. Since that time she has continued to work in film and television, most recently appearing on the show Shades of Blue and in Clint Eastwood’s film Sully.

Janet Jackson

By the time the 90s rolled around, Janet Jackson was no longer the sister of Michael Jackson, but a music star in her own right. In the beginning of the decade, she signed two record-breaking multimillion-dollar, as well as co-starred in the film “Poetic Justice”, alongside Tupac Shakur. By the end of the 90s, she had released 6 albums. But, she didn’t stop there. She opened her own label and released 5 more. In 2017, she launched her 8th concert tour, the State of the World Tour.

Courtney Love broke into fame as the frontwoman of the grunge-punk band, Hole. However, she became a household name after her marriage to Kurt Cobain, in 1992. She was pushed into the limelight even more after the death of Cobain in 1994. However, she moved on with her life. In 2012, she hosted an autobiographical art show in New York City. In 2015, she went back on tour with singer, Lana Del Ray, as the opening act. She is currently credited with 4 acting roles in feature films and TV movies that should be released soon.

Natalie Portman

Natalie Portman made her feature film debut in “Léon: The Professional”, in 1994. Only 2 short years later, she played Marty in “Beautiful Girls.” Her performance received tons of critical acclaim. After this role, there was no stopping Natalie, and after the 90s her talent and career blossomed. She gave amazing performances, in films such as “Closer”, “Garden State”, and “Black Swan”. In 2017, she was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role for her performance as the title role in “Jackie.”

Linda Fiorentino

Linda Fiorentino had appeared in various films in the 1980s. However, she proved she was a truly talented actress, after appearing as Bridget Gregory in 1994’s “The Last Seduction.” She went on to land roles in hit films such as “Larger Than Life,” “Men In Black,” and “Dogma.” Unfortunately, “Dogma” was also her downfall. The film’s director, Kevin Smith, went on record saying Fiorentino was one of the hardest actors he’s ever worked with. Her last credited role was in 2009.


Rachael Leigh Cook

Through the 90s, Rachael Leigh Cook appeared in several films. However, none saw the success of the 1999 film “She’s All That.” Cook played the dorky nerd, turned popular hottie, Laney Boggs. The film grossed $103 million world wide, and shot Cook into super stardom. She continues to act and now has 80 credits to her name. She recently made headlines after she redid her famous “This Is Your Brain On Drugs” commercial. However, this time she chose to address the U.S. judicial system and its policies.

Lisa Bonet is best known for her role of Denise Huxtable on the TV sitcom, The Cosby Show, as well as starring in its short-lived spin-off series, A Different World. Soon after, she was let go from her role on “The Cosby Show”, she divorced from her husband, and singer, Lenny Kravitz. In the late 90s and early 2000s, she appeared in several straight-to-video or made-for-television films. However, she made the jump back into TV acting and had recurring roles in Life on Mars, The Red Road, and Ray Donovan. In 2007, she married actor Jason Momoa, and they are still together, raising 2 children.

In the 1990s, actress Gwyneth Paltrow was a Hollywood starlet. She starred in multiple blockbuster films, during the decade, such as Se7en, Great Expectations, The Talented Mr. Ripley, and Shakespeare in Love. Although her career continued, she never saw as much fame as she did in the 90s. However, she was and is still very successful. She appeared in the Marvel hit “Iron Man”, is a mom to 2 kids, published multiple books and is the face of multiple fashion brands.

Gwyneth Paltrow

Gaby Hoffman

Gaby Hoffman proved she was an acting force to be reckoned with, when she appeared in the coming-of-age film “Now & Then,” as Samantha. She played the role when she was only 13-years-old. Her performance helped her land several other film roles into the late 90s. She appeared in “Volcano,” “Everyone Says I Love You,” and “200 Cigarettes.” Although her prominence fizzled in the early 2000s, she has once again stepped into the limelight. She has had recurring roles on very successful shows, such as HBO’s “Girls” and the Amazon series “Transparent.”


Chloë Sevigny

Chloë Sevigny made her film debut, in 1995, in the controversial film “Kids.” Her performance won her an Independent Spirit award and led to many roles in various Indie films. However, she gained recognition in mainstream films after landing the role of Lana Tisdel in the drama “Boys Don’t Cry”. Her performance won her an Oscar and Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She has continued acting with various recurring roles in hit TV shows such as “Big Love,” “American Horror Story,” and “Bloodline.” In 2015, she released a memoir detailing her life in Hollywood.

Yasmine Bleeth stole the hearts of boys (and men) everywhere after she began running slow motion, in the iconic red bathing suit. on the TV series “Baywatch.” She played Caroline Holden from 1993-1997. She continued to be rather successful in the 90s, landing roles in the TV series “Nash Bridges,” and in TV movies such as “A Face to Die For” and “Crowned and Dangerous.” Since the early 2000s, she has remained out of the spotlight, as she had an intense battle with cocaine addiction. However, she is now healthy.


Nia Long

Nia Long’s breakout performance was as Brandi in 1991’s “Boy n the Hood.” This performance kicked her career into high gear, and soon after, she began portraying Will Smith’s girlfriend on the hit TV series “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air.” She has since gone on to land many starring roles, in films such as “Big Momma’s House,” “The Best Man Holiday,” and “The Singles Mom Club.” 2017 was a big year for her as she appeared in 2 feature films and had recurring roles on 3 TV shows.

Sarah Michelle Gellar’s breakthrough role was as Kendall Hart, on “All My Children”, in 1993. However, she became household name for her portrayal of the title role, in the TV series “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” Her role broke the norm of the helpless, female horror movie victim. In 2002, she married fellow 90s star, Freddie Prinze Jr. In 2015, she became the owner and founder of a food-crafting startup, targeted towards kids, called “Foodstirs.” In April 2017, she released a kid-friendly cookbook titled Stirring Up Fun With Food.

Debbe Dunning

Debbe Dunning played the beautiful, assistant “Tool Time Girl”, Heidi, on the TV series “Home Improvement.” She played the role from 1992-1999. Unfortunately, that role was the peak of her career. She appeared in various TV movies and had a recurring role of the TV series “Wicked Wicked Games” in 2006. She is married to professional volleyball player, Steve Timmons, and they have 3 children.

Tia & Tamera Mowry

Tia and Tamera Mowry rose to fame playing twin sisters on the TV show, “Sister, Sister”. They continued to play twins separated at birth, in the Disney TV movies, “Twitches” and “Twitches 2”. Eventually, the two parted ways and began acting on their own. However, in 2011, a reality show began filming the twins’ lives that was broadcasted on Style Network. The show lasted for 3 seasons. Tamera is currently one of the hosts of “The Real” talk show, and Tia, in 2017, appeared on TV series “Nicky, Ricky, Dicky, & Dawn.” It was recently announced that Tia and Tamera are looking to do a revival of “Sister, Sister”.

Stacey Dash is best known for co-starring in the blockbuster film, “Clueless” and a TV spinoff series of the same name. She played Dionne, best friend of Alicia Silverstone’s character, Cher. She appeared on various TV shows and films throughout the early 2000s. In 2014, Fox News hired Dash as a cultural analyzer and commentator. However, after various less-than-appreciated remarks, Fox News announced, in 2017, her contract would not be renewed. She currently writes for the blog

Stacey Dash

Lucy Lawless

Lucy Lawless is best known for her portrayal of Xena Warrior Princess. She was one of the first and most prominent iconic female characters of the decade. After Xena wrapped filming, Lawless continued to land roles, many of which had the strong, independent female undertones. She most recently had recurring roles in series “Ash vs Evil Dead” and “Salem.” She is a big activist on environmental protection and is a “climate ambassador” for the Greenpeace.

Tiffani Thiessen

Tiffani Theissen played the girl-next-door and lovable sweetheart, Kelly Kapowski on “Saved by the Bell” from 1989-1992. Her performance helped land her the role of Valarie Malone in “Beverly Hills, 90210.” She remained active on TV with recurring roles in “Fastlane”, “Good Morning, Miami”, and most recently “White Collar.” She also currently hosts and produces her own cooking show, titled “Dinner at Tiffani’s”, on the Cooking Channel.


Erika Eleniak

Erika Eleniak is another woman who stole the hearts of many, after adorning the red bathing suit on the TV series “Baywatch.” From 1989-1992, she played the role of Shauni. Her performances helped her land starring roles in films such as “Under Siege” and “The Beverly Hillbillies.” She continued to act through the 2000s in many films and TV shows. Unfortunately, she never saw the same success as she in the early 90s. She is currently credited with playing the starring role in a romance film about Marilyn Monroe, which is in pre-production.

Isabel Lucas

Isabel Lucas is an Australian born actress. Throughout her childhood, she lived in Switzerland and Kakadu as well.  In high school, Isabel was very much involved with drama and acting and eventually decided to attend an art school where she could focus on her acting career. She landed her first big role as Kit Hunter in ‘Home and Away’.  Isabel continues to act, and you can catch her in hit movies like ‘Transformers’ and ‘Red Dawn’.  Isabel is also an activist and takes part in multiple protests against dolphin culling in Wakayama, Japan. This overachiever is also a spokesperson for the Australian National Breast Cancer Foundation and supports many other organizations worldwide.

Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande is a true ’90s baby and spent her childhood pursuing her dream. She made her national television debut singing the national anthem at a Florida Panthers game. But, she got her big break, after landing a role in the Broadway production of “13.” The role’s success led her to move to L.A., where her career truly flourished. She was given the role of Cat Valentine on the TV series Victorious. The series lead to a spin-off that featured her and Jennette McCurdy. In 2013, she released her first album, which quickly rose to number 1. She has since released 2 more albums and is now one of the most loved artists in the world.

Eva LaRue

Although Eva LaRue’s acting career took off in the ’80s with her role on the TV show “Santa Barbara,” she became a household name in the early ’90s for her performance on “All My Children.” She portrayed role of Dr. Maria Santos Grey from 1993 to 1997 and again from 2002 to 2005. Her performance received a Daytime Emmy nomination. She was quickly able to land another TV gig in 2005, on the TV series “CSI: Miami.” She appeared on “CSI” until 2012. She was most recently in the thriller film “A Killer Walks Amongst Us” in 2016.

Tori Spelling

Most likely in thanks to her famous producing father, Aaron Spelling, Tori Spelling landed her breakthrough role as Donna Martin on Beverly Hills, 90210 in 1990. She played the role until 2000, but was able to reprise it in the recent Beverly Hills, 90210‘s spin-off, 90210, in 2009. Her most recent role was in the 2016 TV movie “Mother, May I Sleep With Danger?” Along with being an actor, she is a published author and has released 6 books.

Lindsey Vonn

Lindsey Vonn has been a talented skier since a very young age. She was so talented that her entire family uprooted their lives in Minnesota, in the late 90s, and moved to Colorado so she could train in the best facilities. By the time she was 16-years-old, she had made her World Cup debut. Her talent has since only continued to grow and is one of the most decorated athletes in the sport. She is 1 of 6 women to win a World Cup race in all 5 disciplines.


Amanda Bearse

Amanda Pearse portrayed Marcy D’Arcy on “Married With Children” from 1986-1997. During her time on the show, she became interested in directing and actually directed multiple “Married With Children” episodes. She continued to direct after the show wrapped and worked on multiple TV series such as  Reba, Mad TV, The Jamie Foxx Show, Dharma & Greg, and Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place. She has mainly stayed behind the camera. However, she recently had a role in 2017’s “Sky Sharks”.

Juliet Tablak was an overall unknown actor before she landed the role of Amber on “Married With Children”. Unfortunately, that was the peak of her career as she was unable to land any prominent roles after. However, she has still had a successful life. She became a pilates teacher. Her love for the way the body moves drove her to attend medical school and become a chiropractic doctor.

Gal Gadot

At age 18, Gal Gadot won the Miss Israel pageant and went on to represent the country at Miss Universe. Although she didn’t win, she has since taken the world by storm. After winning the Miss Israel, Gadot served 2 years in the Israeli army. She feels her military service is what helped her land her breakthrough role of Gisele in “Fast & Furious.” Of course, today, Gadot is better known as Wonder Woman. She has already played the role in 3 films and expected to continue to do so in many more.

Ashley Judd’s first on-screen appearance was a guest role on the TV series “Star Trek: The Next Generation”, in 1991. Since then, her career has not stopped. She has had featured roles in hit movies such as Ruby in Paradise (1993), Double Jeopardy (1999), Where the Heart Is (2000), High Crimes (2002), De-Lovely (2004), Bug (2006),  Divergent (2014), Dolphin Tale 2 (2014), and many more. She has been nominated for 2 Golden Globe and 2 Emmy Awards.

Mariska was able to break into the film industry after winning Miss Beverly Hills, USA, in 1982. Her first on-screen role was in Ronnie Milsap’s music video for “She Loves My Car”. By the mid-1990s, she was landing recurring roles in series such as “Can’t Hurry Love” and “ER”. In 1999, she landed her most notable role as Olivia Benson on “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”. For her performance on “Law & Order”, she has won a Golden Globe and received several Emmy nominations.


Daniela Sofia Korn Ruah

Daniela Sofia Korn Ruah began her professional acting career performing in Portuguese soap operas when she was only a teenager. She worked on Portuguese productions for many years, until she made the jump into English shows, in 2009. That same year, she landed the role of Kelsi Byle on “NCIS”. She continues to play the character on “NCIS: Los Angeles” as a regular cast member.

Nadia Comăneci is a Romanian Olympic gymnast who took the 1976 Olympics by storm when she received the first ever perfect 10. During those games, she received 6 perfect 10s as well as 3 gold medals. Since those Olympic games, Nadia has gone down in history as the one who popularized the sport around the world. In 1989, she moved the United States and later became a citizen. She is married to fellow gold medalist Bart Conner.

Nancy McKeon is best known for her role of Jo Polniaczek on “The Facts of Life”. After “The Facts of Life” wrapped, she appeared in various TV shows and movies. However, her next big TV role was on the short-lived series “Can’t Hurry Love.” Her most recent role was in 2011, in the TV movie “Love Begins”.


Daryl Hannah

Daryl Hannah, by the end of the 1980s, was a huge star, after appearing in classic films such as “Splash” and “Steel Magnolias”. Her fame and success in Hollywood continued through the 90s and into the early 2000s. She had roles in hit films such as “Grumpy Old Men”, “The Little Rascals”, “My Favorite Martian”, and “A Walk to Remember”. Her most recent role was on the Netflix sci-fi series, “Sense8”. Hannah is also a big-time environmental activist and is often seen at rallies.

Phoebe Cates

Phoebe Cates is best known for her roles in the 1980s, such as in “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” and “Gremlins”. Her acting career continued into the early 90s, as she appeared in productions such as “Gremlins 2: The New Batch” and “Drop Dead Fred”. She retired from acting in 1994. However, she returned for one more film in 2001, “The Anniversary Party”. She has since stayed busy raising her children, with husband and actor Kevin Kline, and running her boutique store, Blue Tree.

Kate Winslet rose to international fame after playing the role of Rose, in the Oscar-winning film “Titanic”. Since “Titanic”, she has landed roles in several box office hits such as “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”, “Revolutionary Road” and “Finding Neverland”. She has won 3 out of the 4 major American entertainment awards and was the youngest actress to ever receive 6 Oscar nominations.


Tatyana Ali

Tatyana Ali played Ashley Banks of the hit sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”, from 1990-1996. Although she never saw as much popularity in her career, she still steadily landed roles. She had appearances in productions such as “Jawbreaker” and “The Young and the Restless”. She has also recently been seen on Broadway, alongside James Earl Jones, in “Fences”. She is expected to partake in several productions set to be released in 2018.

Jessica Biel

Jessica Biel became a household name in 1994 when she began playing the eldest daughter, Mary Camden, on The WB series “7th Heaven”. She focused mainly on playing Mary until the early 2000s when she began a steady career in film. She had roles in box office hits such as “Summer Catch”, “The Illusionist”, and “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre”. She most recently starred and produced the 2017 TV series “The Sinner”.

Eva Mendes

Eva Mendes began her acting career in the late 90s with roles in several B-list movies such as “Children of the Corn: Fields of Terror”. However, in 2001, she played her career-changing role as Sara in “Training Day”. From there, she went on to land more prominent roles. She starred in films such as “2 Fast 2 Furious”, “Hitch” and “The Place Beyond the Pines”.

Kirsten Dunst

Kirsten Dunst made her film debut in a Woody Allen 1989 short film. However, she gained worldwide recognition, at the young of 12, as Claudia in 1994’s Interview with the Vampire. Since then, Dunst has boasted a steady and successful resume. She starred in films such as “Jumanji”, “Drop Dead Gorgeous”, “Bring It On”, “Spider-Man”, and “Marie Antoinette”. She recently won the Screen Actors Guild Award for her performance in the 2016 drama “Hidden Figures”.

Jenny McCarthy

After having a successful modeling career, Jenny McCarthy was able to transition into TV and film, by hosting the MTV game show Singled Out in 1995. Soon after, she appeared in films like “Baseketball” and “Scream 3”. Along with appearing on several sitcom series through the 90s and 2000s, today, McCarthy is best known for her longtime role as a panelist on “The View”.

Pamela Anderson

Pamela Anderson rose to fame as a model and made the jump to TV in 1991, as the Tool Time Girl, on “Home Improvement”. She only stayed on the show for 2 seasons, as she landed her breakthrough role of C.J. Parker on “Baywatch”. She recently reprised her role of C.J. for the 2017 film adaptation of the show. She has also appeared on several reality shows such as “Dancing with the Stars” and “Big Brother”.

Debby Ryan first entered the spotlight, during her childhood, on the hit children’s series “Barney & friends.” Like many other Barney stars, Ryan was noticed by Disney. She appeared in several Disney productions such as “The Suite Life on Deck” and “The Wizards of Waverly Place.” More recently, she appeared in the 2018 film “Cover Versions.” She is also the lead singer of the band “The Never Ending.”

Danica McKellar

Danica McKellar is well known for her part as Winnie Cooper in the hit series “The Wonder Years”.  She continued to pursue an acting career and performed in roles like “Static Shock”, “Inspector Mom”, and “Young Justice”. Although it seemed as though Danica would have a promising acting career, she gave it up to be a teacher.  Danica is a gifted mathematician and even created a new theorem which is named after her.

Marisa Tomei

Marisa Tomei rose to fame playing Maggie Lauten on Bill Cosby’s ” A Different World”. However, she became a household name after landing the role of feisty, auto-mechanic, Mona Lisa Vito, in 1992’s “My Cousin Vinny”. Her performance, as Mona Lisa Vito, won her an Oscar for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. Her career has continued to flourish, and she has landed roles in hit films such as “The Big Short” and “Captain America: Civil War.” Her most recent role was in 2017’s “Spiderman: Homecoming” as Aunt May.

Monica Lewinsky

Monica Lewinsky was unknown to the world until 1998. At the time, Lewinsky was 25-years-old and a White House intern. News broke that she and President Bill Clinton were having an “inappropriate relationship.” Clinton tried to deny the allegations. However, a grand jury said otherwise. Lewinsky seemed to disappear from the public eye, until 2014. She decided it was time to tell her side of the story, and wrote an article for Vanity Fair. She now works as a motivational speaker and strong opponent of cyberbullying. She feels she was one of the first victims of the issue back in 1998.

Elin Nordgren

The former Swedish model, Elin Nordegren, is best known for her ill-fated marriage to champion golfer, Tiger Woods. After being married for 6 years, and having 2 children together, Elin and Tiger split. It was discovered that Tiger was cheating on Elin. They divorced in 2010. From the divorce settlement, Elin received $100 million. She recently told People, “I have moved on and I am in a good place. My relationship with Tiger is centered around our children and we are doing really good – we really are – and I am so happy that is the case. He is a great father.”

Danielle Fishel is best remembered for her role as Topanga in the TV sitcom “Boy Meets World”. She appeared in a few other TV series after “Boy Meets World” wrapped. However, she never saw the same popularity. She did reprise her role on the recent spin-off series “Girl Meets World”. She also does entertainment reporting for various media outlets.

Mara Wilson

Mara Wilson was a child star in the 1990s. She is best remembered for the mind-controlling, super intelligent, Trunchbull defeating, title character in “Matilda”. She also appeared in hit film “Mrs. Doubtfire”, alongside Robin Williams. Today, Mara Wilson stays out of the limelight. However, just like her character, Matilda, she loves books and to write. In 2016, she published “Where Am I Now?: True Stories of Girlhood and Accidental Fame”.


Tonya Harding

Tonya Harding was once known as a great ice skater. However, she shook the sport in 1994. That year, Harding and Nancy Kerrigan were competing against each other in theU.S. Figure Skating Championships. When Kerrigan was on her way to the locker room, Shane Stant, Tonya Harding’s ex-husband’s friend, hit her in the leg with a police baton. Harding was charged for her involvement in the crime and pleaded guilty to a felony of hindering the prosecution. Since the end of her ice skating, she has certainly kept busy. She made and sold a sex tape, had a short-lived boxing career, and set a new land speed record for a vintage gas coupe.

Nancy Kerrigan

Nancy Kerrigan is a champion ice skater, who became a household name for some unfortunate circumstances. She was the victim in the 1994 ice skating scandal, dubbed “The Whack Heard Round the World.” However, she rebounded rather quickly, and only a few short weeks after the scandal, she won silver at the 1994 Winter Olympics. She went on to be an Olympics correspondent in 2010 and 2014. She most recently appeared on the 24th season of “Dancing with the Stars.” She tied for 6th place.


Catherine Bell

After working as a model in the 80s, Catherine Bell decided to try her hand in acting. She studied acting at the Beverly Hills Playhouse and landed her first TV gig in 1990. She had a role, with one line, on the sitcom “Sugar and Spice.” But, her roles began to grow and she eventually landed her arguably most notable role of Sarah MacKenzie on “JAG.” She has since portrayed recurring characters on series such as “The Triangle,” “Army Wives,” and “The Good Witch.”

Elisabeth Shue

Elisabeth Shue made her film debut in “The Karate Kid” playing opposite Ralph Macchi, in 1984. The role helped ignite her career. She landed her first starring role only a few years later, in the 1987 film “Adventures of Babysitting.” Her career continued to flourish through the 90s, with roles in blockbuster films like “Back to the Future”, Leaving Las Vegas”, and “Deconstructing Harry.” From 2012-2015, she had a recurring role on “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.” She will also appear alongside Emma Stone and Sarah Silverman, in “Battle of the Sexes,” which is currently set to be released in September 2017.


Beth Chapman

In the late 80s, as a 29-year-old, Beth Chapman became the youngest licensed bail bondsman in the state of Colorado. (She happily passed on that torch to her step-daughter, Lyssa, many years later.) She paired up with Duane Chapman in the mid-90s and the two have been taking down fugitives together ever since. She and her husband, Duane, are the focus of the reality series “Dog the Bounty Hunter” and “Dog and Beth: On the Hunt.” In 2017, Beth battled and beat Stage 2 throat cancer.


Cote de Pablo

Chilean-born actress Cote de Pablo spent most of her childhood in Florida. After high school, she went to Carnegie Mellon to study musical theater.  After her graduation, she landed her first on-screen role, in 2000, on the TV series “The $treet.” She continued to land several small roles. However, she got her big break when she landed the role of Ziva David on “NCIS.” She played Ziva until 2013. Her most recent role was in 2016, starring in the TV movie “Prototype.”

Danielle Colby

Danielle Colby started her entertainment career in dance. She discovered she had a passion for burlesque dancing after attending a professional performance in Chicago. She started her own burlesque troupe and opened her own dance studio. However, most people know her from the reality series “American Pickers,” which she helps Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz discover hidden treasures amongst otherwise forgotten belongings.

Winona Ryder

Winona Ryder was one of the most sought-after actresses, in the 90s. She began the decade with blockbuster films such as “Edward Scissorhands”, “Mermaids,” and “Bram Stoker’s Dracula.” She finished the decade just as strong with roles in “Alien: Resurrection” and “Girl, Interrupted”. However, in 2001, she was arrested for shoplifting and decided to take a break from acting. However, only a few short years later, she was back in action. She most recently appeared on the hit Netflix series, “Stranger Things.” She will reprise her role as Joyce Byers in the second season.
