“Within a week after our relationship began, I knew I was going to marry her.” Howard has stated about Alison Berns, his first wife. Now long after they met at Boston University, the couple married at Temple Ohabei Shalom while both only 24-years-old. Sadly, the relationship fell apart in 1999. Howard has stated, “I was totally neurotic and sort of consumed with work. I took work as the most important thing and the only thing.”
Howard’s Three Daughters
Howard and Alison had three daughters together. There was Emily who was born in 1983, then Debra who was work in 1986 and finally Ashley who came to be in 1993. His daughter Emily has turned to Orthodox Judaism and has since blamed her father for still being single while well into her thirties. “My dad’s emphasis on sexuality kept me out of the dating ring when I was younger.” She then went on to state, “I felt like the divorce came out of nowhere. I thought that sacred bond was so strong. He used to be one way, and then he marries a model.”

In the early 2000’s, Howard began dating a model and television host named Beth Ostrosky. The couple dated for seven years before finally tying the knot in 2008. They didn’t marry any temples this time but had their ceremony in a Le Cirque restaurant. While most would think an 18-year gap between their ages would be extreme and land a marriage in instant failure, it has yet to happen. Ten years on and the loving couple are still together.
Emily’s Take on Growing Up
While fathers and daughters usually share an unconditional love, Emily has very few good things to say about her father. My dad always instilled in us, ‘Everybody’s watching you,’ ” she said. While Howard “always said it was for our protection.” She went on to talk about how she was frequently alone and made to think that she was different from everybody else. She said that growing up with that feeling in mind was extremely unhealthy.
Clear Channel Radio Banned Him
Clear Channel Radi saw Howard Stern being broadcasted on six different markets and locations of a national scale. That said, they apparently didn’t know what they were in for. His sharp tongue got him into trouble when he took the Paris Hilton tape and described it in detail. The FCC sent the station a $495,000 fine. The station went on to ban Stern for life.
Howard’s Move To Satellite Radio
Once Howard was banned from the radio, he took his business to Satellite Radio. Howard had a huge advantage on Satellite Radio. They are clear from FCC regulations and anything goes on these stations. That said, this doesn’t mean that Howard didn’t have his share on dramas on the radio station. He apparently got into a fight with them over payment issues.
Selena Fans Can’t Stand Him
Howard has always brushed shoulders with controversy as a method of gaining fans or a major response. When famous Mexican singer Selena passed in 1995, Howard couldn’t wait to issue a statement. Upon hearing about her passing he said, “This music does absolutely nothing for me. Alvin and the Chipmunks have more soul.” Spanish countries didn’t hold back from attacking Howard on air and eventually, he apologized for his words.
Millions In Fines
Howard’s razor-sharp tongue and love for drama have gotten the stations that host his show in trouble more than once. The Howard Stern Show has garnered more than 2 million in fines from the FCC. It was that last fine that cost him a half a million dollars that saw him ditch public radio and move to Satellite Radio.

The Howard Stern Show hit its peak in popularity during the 1990’s. The Howard Stern Show made its official debut in 1990. Howard was alive and kicking on WWOR-TV. The 1990’s masses loved his rugged behavior and by 1992 he was even beat Saturday Night Live in the ratings department. Amidst his 30 year career on air, Howard Stern has also popped out two books. First came Private Parts and that was followed by Miss America. In 1994, the world was Howard Stern crazy and that also happened to be the year that Howard stepped into politics. That’s right, Howard Stern ran for governor of New York. Sadly, he ended up pulling his name from the ballot and ended up backing up his running mate, George Pataki and he actually won. Speaking further on Howard’s influence on politics, a bill was passed in 1995 called The Howard Stern Bill. The bill prevented any construction on highway and roads in New York and Long Island in the late night hours.

Apparently, he enjoyed being a judge more than he ever thought he would. “I thought it would be really cool to be a judge, because I think I have something to offer. If I had any dream about this, it’s that I could take someone who was struggling and seriously give advice. I was told over and over again that I had no talent. I was in college radio. No one was banking on me. I sent a copy of my show to my father, my father wrote me back a five-page letter and was brutally honest. … It wasn’t harsh, I think it was out of love.”

Let Down By Bowie
Back when Howard Stern was just getting started with his career in radio, he scored by big by talking David Bowie to come onto his show. Sadly, Bowie refused to give an interview and instead performed just a few of his songs. This didn’t sit well with Howard. He really wanted to give him an interview. We suspect that they remained on good terms despite the letdown, as Bowie did perform at Howard’s 44th birthday party.

Howard Stern is a long time sufferer of OCD. He combats his feelings and tries to manage them by practicing transcendental meditation techniques. While he’ll always live with these symptoms, he now has the ability to live life completely normal. He further has stated that depression has cured his mother of her long-standing depression.
Howard And Trump Are Close Friends
How has a beautiful ability to separate friendship and politics. That said, during the 2016 election he voted for Hilary Clinton. He voted for her despite being great friends with Donald Trump. Apparently, the two are still very close to this day and him not voting for his friend didn’t really damage the friendship. You have to admire Howard in that respect.

Howard Stern and his second wife are both big animal lovers and they both donate a considerable amount of money to the North Shore Animal League America. The NSALA is one of the biggest no-kill animal shelters in the world and is located in Port Washington, New York. Howard Stern Was Fired From DC101
From his very first days on the radio, Howard Stern has pretty much always said and done whatever he wanted. In 1982 while working on DC101, a plane crashed. The next day he called up Air Florida and asked them a number of questions. This, of course, didn’t go very well with the radio station or the airlines. The next day, Howard was fired.
Stern’s Rivalry With John DeBella
Stern has a very long stand rivalry with John DeBella WMMR. In 1990, Stern who was on air with WXRK finally surpassed John Debella on ratings. It was on that day that he and his crew decided to throw a mock funeral for John DeBella on air. He didn’t really pass on, but they set up a funeral with all the works. We’re certain that Debella didn’t feel very honored by it.
King Of All Media
For many years, Stern had dubbed himself the King of All Media. Recently, he decided that it was time to make it official as he trademarked that name. Now he is officially the King of All Media. Now if anyone ever tried to used this name, Stern would be able to sue them.
Taking A Personal Day
On May 10, 2017, Howard Stern caused the world concern when he suddenly cancelled his show to take a personal day. What made this such a big deal was that Stern has never taken a personal day before. He has been on air since the 1980’s and he has always been there. The whole world was asking a million questions. some attributed it to his parents passing or perhaps marriage issues.

Some signs point to Stern quitting and starting a new life. In 2017, he was on David Letterman and admitted that he was feeling burned out and that if he were to retired he’d want to do it before getting so old.
